Scentless Apprentice is a bricolage radio program featuring a concoction of interviews, true stories, tall tales, and cultural oddities explored through the lens of scent. Each episode explores the world of perfumery and other nasal-centric concerns through a single topic.

Broadcast live every Tuesday night for the month of July 2018 from Mediamatic, Amsterdam. In partnership with The Institute for Art and Olfaction, Mediamatic and dublab. Sponsored by IFF and Pochpac.

"Episode 1: Foul Play." For the living, perfume can make the nose feel positively filled with vitality, but it also has a deep history with the other side.

Special guests: Richard Carradine (Founder, Ghost Hunters of Urban Los Angeles), Nuri McBride (Academic/Advocate/Writer, DeathScent.com), Dr. Kara Cooney & Robyn Price (Egyptologists, UCLA); Simon Niedenthal (Associate Professor of Interactive Design, Malmö University); Florian Rabeau (Co-Founder, Kalain); Marcel van Brakel (Co-Founder, Polymorf).

"Episode 2: Knock-Off the Old Block." TS Eliot famously wrote, “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal.” How do plagiarization, mimicry, and re-creation play into contemporary ideas about perfume and smell?

Special guests: Charles Cronin (Perfume Law Expert, USC Gould School of Law), Dr. Gregory Khitrov (Sr. Development Engineer, UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry), Christopher Brosius (Founder, CB I Hate Perfume), Saskia Wilson-Brown (Founder, Institute for Art and Olfaction/Filmmaker).

"Episode 4: On the Scent." Some smells are worthy of pursuit. These are stories about the thrill of the hunt.

Special guests: Patrick Lillis (Coronation Ambergris), Mandy Aftel (Aftelier/Aftel Archive of Curious Scents), Denyse Beaulieu (Perfume Expert/Author, The Perfume Lover: A Personal History of Scent), Luca Turin (Biophysicist/Co-Author with Tania Sanchez, Perfumes: The Guide 2018), Luís Negrão (Marine Biologist/Mediamatic).
